Gratings for High Power Lasers
Chirped-pulse amplification (CPA) laser systems suffer from pre-pulse effects, which affects the spectral range and contrast. This pre-pulse is a region of noise which is able to interact with the target prior to the main pulse and this can be detrimental. STFC’s patented technology allows CPA systems to produce pedestal free, enhanced contrast...

Optical Disc Mounts for Lasers
Laser systems require a reliable method of mounting discs or slabs of optical elements in an aerodynamically shaped vane that will be positioned within a high-velocity gas coolant flow. This STFC invention describes an alternative method for mounting an optical disc in a shaped vane for use in cryogenic gas-cooled laser systems.IMAGES Published: 08/06/2022
